The design of the Cheval Blanc Randheli is the work of architect Jean-Michel Gathy, who has married a contemporary aesthetic to the traditional palm cabana architecture of the islands. Merging traditional and contemporary design elements can be a challenge, but Gathy succeeded in a structure that is as relaxed and serene as it is progressive in design. The furnishings continue the emphasis on relaxed comfort, as the color schemes and materials are at home in this island setting. Visitors to the Cheval Blanc Randheli will be treated to Michelin-class dining courtesy of chef Yannick Alléno at The 1947, an on-site restaurant offering fine French cuisine. Three other restaurants will offer seafood-fare with Japanese, Iberian and other dishes from around the world. Villa pricing has yet to be published, and travels will include a 40-minute seaplane ferry from Malé’s international airport. The Cheval Blanc Randheli Hotel will open in 2013 as one of the premiere resort destinations in the Indian Ocean.
